The seeds of Dead Man Rockin' began when
lead guitarist Frank DeSande decided to put a band together
so he could get back into music. Frank had stopped playing
guitar 27 years earlier and decided it was finally time to
return to his teen-age love of playing guitar.

With a 1997 ad in the local Recycler, Frank
put together a band just for jamming, but as their sound and
musical abilities grew, so did their desire to start gigging.
That early band, which included current rhythm guitarist Charlie
Dailey, focused mainly on popular cover songs and began playing
gigs at fairs and local civic and private functions to a growing
and loyal following. It was in these early years that Frank
and Charlie adopted a philosophy of playing music as a tribute
to the original songs instead of just covering them
not
as a tribute to a single band, but rather as a tribute to
all forms of Rock 'n' Roll.
The following years were tumultuous and
trying as band members came and went, but Frank never gave
up the dream of the ultimate Rock 'n Roll tribute band. He
and Charlie continued to search for band-mates with the right
musical chemistry needed to make the band into a top-flight
musical tribute act.
Whether it was fate, the stars, or the planets
in alignment, that musical chemistry finally arrived. With
a line-up that includes Johnny Blue (keyboards/vocals), Jack
Carlisle (bass) and Henry Juarez (vocals), Frank (lead guitar),
Charlie (rhythm guitar/vocals) and Bruce Fleming (drums/vocals)
finally achieved their goal and Dead Man Rockin' was born.
Frank believes that in order to truly pay
tribute to a song's original recording, the song should be
played the way people are used to hearing it. From guitar
tone to signature riffs and solos, DMR strives to replicate
the original song
to a point
beyond that point,
they strive to put their personal stamp on each song. Dead
Man Rockin' reflects this philosophy by continuously seeking
to find a balance between "playing like the record"
and making each song their own. The guiding principle in maintaining
this balance is, "What liberties might the original artist
take when playing the song live?" With that in mind,
DMR strives to make each song as recognizable as the original,
yet stamped with their own style.
DMR seeks to satisfy a wide variety of musical
tastes (see current DMR song list). From classic Guitar Rock
and Rock-A-Billy to Motown and the Blues, DMR plays everyone's
favorite music, striving to make their performance "like
listening to your favorite radio station." DMR takes
special pride in a song list that includes a wide variety
of musical styles and songs not usually played by cover bands.
Santana's "Black Magic Woman," The Talking Heads'
"Wild Life," CCR's "I Put A Spell On You,"
Pink Floyd's "Breathe/Time," and Sweet's "Ballroom
Blitz" are just a few masterfully played examples of
this approach.
Whether you need a "dance band"
or a "stage performance band," DMR can fill your
needs. DMR is currently available for corporate, private,
or civic events, as well as traditional music venues such
as bars, coffee houses and "concerts in the park."
Whatever your musical needs, DMR can fill them!
