"Music started early for me, when I
was about 10 years old," says Jack. "There was always
music in our home. It progressed from drums to bass guitar
in my early teenage years because rhythm was always my thing."
One of the best musical experiences he had
was playing in the high school jazz band where he won numerous
awards. Playing music from Count Basie to Weather Report definitely
helped build his chops.
Jack also played in many bands throughout
high school, which really helped reinforce his Rock 'n' Roll
roots. By the end of high school he'd formed a band named
Stryfe. Jack says
"we polished our act and played all over Southern California
for three years playing high school dances, keg parties, and
any place else that would hire us."
Once Stryfe
ended, he joined a band named Vengeance.
This was an all-original band that performed showcases all
over LA and Hollywood, as well as playing Orange County nightclubs,
private parties and colleges. Vengeance
disbanded after about 3 years.
Jack then took a long break from playing.
Says Jack about his return to the stage, "The bass has
been calling to me for the last couple of years and with the
encouragement of my wife I decided to jump back into 'thumping'."
"I feel that my job as the bass player
is a very important one. It's my job to hook the groove with
the drummer and lay down a solid foundation for the rest of
the band to play off of."
Jack is now most happy to be playing bass
again! Growing up, his influences were Yes, Led Zeppelin,
The Rolling Stones and Pink Floyd. He has a wife and daughter
and loves to ride his Harley-Davidson.
